My Checkup

I went to a new vet on Friday. I was so excited when I saw my leash, I knew I had to be going somewhere! As I went outside to frolic in the Florida humidity, my dad opened the car door for me! I still haven't quite gotten used to bracing myself for stopping but I still love to put my head out the window!

It was a short ride and when we arrived there was an entrance just for dogs. I was somewhat hoping to chase a cat but as we went inside there were a few people to sniff. I was trying to get closer to the people but my mom and dad wouldn't let me. Soon we went in the back where all the excitement is! The nice vet tech's kept the door open so I could see all the coming and goings of everyone. They asked mom a bunch of questions and then I got to go with a vet tech to get weighed! I stepped on the scale and weighed in at 73.4 lbs! My diet worked!! The next vet tech took some blood, gave me a cookie, and she gave me a red and blue toy to play with while I was waiting but all I wanted to do was watch the activity in the back! They then had someone come in and pick me up to put me on the exam table. My tail was now at the right height to smack people in the head! I was wagging so much and had fur flying. I had everything and everyone covered in fur! The veterinarian came in next. She said I was quite a big boy. She gave me a few shots, checked in my ears and had my nails clipped. My mom told the veterinarian all the weird things I eat like zucchini, tomatoes, carrots, and sometimes tofu.

Next we were back to the waiting room and this time there were more new people for me to sniff and wag about but mom told me NO. She really isn't any fun! One gentleman told her I was rambunctious. I'm glad someone recognizes my talents! As mom was paying the lady at the desk for all this fun she noticed there were quite a few ads for labs that needed homes. One ad was behind the desk and the ladies told her of a 4 month old lab who was free to a good home. This was quite tempting to mom, so much so that she mentioned it to dad. I like being an only child!! I don't want to share the spoiling just yet! I don't think mom has enough energy to keep up with with two labs, especially another puppy because we all know what a handful I was!

Now mom's car needs to be vacuumed out and I'm going to take a nap so that I am refreshed when the neighbors decide to light fireworks again tonight.
